With its innovative manufacturing process b&m-ECCO TEC® (Ecological Coldforming Technology), baier & michels is setting new standards in industrial series production. The process enables chipless production of complex precision parts – at a rate of up to 60 parts per minute.
This makes it not only up to ten times faster than conventional turning methods, but also significantly more resource-efficient: depending on the component geometry, material and CO₂ savings of up to 67 percent are possible.
The focus is on components used in drive technology and, in particular, actuator systems – such as ball studs, drive shafts, or adjustment spindles. To bring this technology into practical application, a new machinery park is currently being built at the b&m headquarters in Ober-Ramstadt – featuring a system that is unique in scale worldwide.
Olaf Ambros, Director / R & D at b&m, and Rainer Bürkert, Member of the Central Managing Board of the Würth Group, recently visited the site to assess the current development status of the new production machine. The approximately 125-ton forming machine will become the centerpiece of the new machinery park and is specifically designed to meet the requirements of b&m-ECCO TEC®.
The opening of the new production facility is planned for later this year.
